You Must be in MCSA Database to Post on Bulletin Board

The MC Bulletin Board (BB) is there for you to share ideas about the MC and sailing in general. To promote that we allowed unrestricted access for sailors to register and post messages. But once again hackers and purveyors of filth are making our life miserable. Recently we've had to reject as many as seven attempts per day to access the BB.

This is what we've done to try to address that:

  • On November 15, 2006 we blocked all NEW registrations to the BB; existing members can still post.
  • On December 3, 2006, we automatically registered everyone in the MC database with an existing userID and password (846 new entries); e.g., if at any time you posted an MC for sale or voted, you are now registered to use the BB. This includes both currently paid up members as well as those whose dues may have lapsed.
Expected advantages of the new flow:
  1. Back to one userID and password for the entire MC website!
  2. Automatic registration to the BB;
  3. More structured and consistent access control by the volunteer administrators;
  4. You'll be reminded periodically of your userID and password.
DOs and DON'Ts
  • DO use the BB. Share your enthusiasm for this great sailboat!
  • DO change your password by clicking on your LAST NAME when listing your fleet members. The panel that shows when you do that will allow you to change BOTH userID AND password.
  • DON'T change your password in the BB, you'll wind up with TWO passwords again!
Our hope is that this new process will stimulate more discussion on the Bulletin Board. We welcome your feedback!
