3rd Annual Regatta for MC scows and 7th Annual Regatta for Sunfish

2008 ScowFish Invitational
August 23 - 24, 2008
Venue   Portage Yacht Club, on Portage Lake, is 14 miles northwest of Ann Arbor at 8900 Dexter-Pinckney Road, Pinckney, Michigan 48169. A beautiful clubhouse provides an excellent view of the clear, glacial lake and offers excellent dining amid modern facilities. On site launching and mooring sites are available.
Rules   The races will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). State law requires a USCG approved PFD for each person on board and, for each MC scow only, a throwable cushion. VHF radios shall not be used by competitors while racing. For purposes of advertising, this is a Category A event.

Eligibility
  This Regatta is open to all MC Scow and Sunfish sailors. Enter by completing the Entry Form, and submitting it along with the required fee.
Courses   The races will be sailed around moveable buoys set in triangular and/or windward-leeward configurations..

Registration   Boat registration is $45. Fee includes a continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, a box lunch on Saturday for each boat, and a picnic lunch following Sunday's racing for each boat.
Current ISCA and MCSA members get a $5 discount. Members of US SAILING get an additional $5 discount.
Scoring   USSA Appendix A using the Low-Point scoring system with no discards. This changes RRS A2. Seven races are planned; one race constitutes a regatta. First place finishes shall be scored as 0.75 points; this modifies RRS A4.1.
Trophies   One prize will be awarded for every four registrants in each class.
Family/
Spectators
  Family and guests of competitors are welcome to attend and use the Portage Yacht Club facilities during the regatta, including showers as well as the upper deck, which provides an excellent view of the racing area.
Housing   Some lodging is available in PYC members' homes. Contact the Fleet Captain listed below. On-site camping available to regatta participants only. Call Portage Yacht Club for information.
