Rules and
Eligibility
The regatta will be governed by the current rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

 

This event is open to MC Scows whose skippers have completed registration. Trophy age categories must be met before the first scheduled race.

 

The event is the second of three in the MC Triple Crown series, the other events in the series are the Southeast Regional Championship Regatta which was held in Nov 9/10 2019 and the MCSA Midwinter Championship to be held in March 12/14 2020. Competing in all three events is required to be eligible for the Triple Crown award.
SAFETY: LESC encourages the use of mast head floats.

All competitors must pre-register at
www.mcscow.org.


Fees: Before Tuesday, January 14, 2020: $105 members, $115 non-members,

after which a $10 late fee is applied. Payment at event only.


Boat registration includes (for skipper) – Light breakfast and lunch Fri., Sat., Sun., Saturday dinner, regatta “T” shirt.
   

Additional items must be ordered before Tuesday, Jan. 14 to guarantee availability.

Crew boats – will be available on a “first come first served” basis. Please let us know in advance if you expect to need this facility. 

 

MCSA New Member Signup / Information 

Scoring

The Low Point System of RRS Appendix A will be used. Eight (8) races are scheduled. More may be sailed at the discretion of the PRO. A minimum of one race must be completed to constitute a regatta.If less than 6 races are completed a boats score will be the total of all its race scores. This changes RRS A2

 

Scoring for the MC Triple Crown series will be as follows:

  • First place finisher in the SER and in the Train Wreck Regattas will be awarded 60 points, second place finisher 59 points, third 58 points, etc.
  • First place finisher in the Mid-Winters Regatta will be awarded 120 points, second place finisher 119 points, third place 118 points, etc.
  • Total score for the series will be the sum of scores in all three regattas.
  • The Sailor with the highest number of points will be awarded the “Triple Crown”

            Top X Sail Sailor  (min 2 X sailors required)
             An X
 sail has a shorter luff by about 3 feet and may have a slightly                     shorter foot. Add an X to your X sail number where space permits.                     Finish position for X sailors will be normal score. Scoring for the X                      sailor trophy will be by comparing total regatta score for all X sailors                   who finished at least one race using an X sail.

VHF Radio

VHF radio will be the primary means used by the RC to communicate about activity on the race course; e.g. delays, recalls, weather related issues etc.

Lodging
RVs/Camping

Camping is allowed on the grounds of the Sailing Club (on the north side of building)

Up to eight RVs less than 30 ft long can be accommodated by prior arrangement. Please indicate intent to RV by e-mail to gto65tri@bellsouth.net first come first served!

Camping and RV’s are permitted on club grounds from Jan 26th to Feb 5th

MC Boat
Storage
LESC has a Boat Storage Program for sailors who want to keep their boats here between the regattas. This keeps your MC here at LESC while you fly down for Zenda U/ MCSA MidWinters Championship Regatta. Please complete a regatta membership form at registration desk, pay applicable fee, put name on left side of trailer tongue (stickers available registration desk)
