NOTICE OF RACE


1.0 RULES

1.1 The event is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.


2.0 ELIGIBILTIY AND ENTRY

2.1 This event is open to all boats of the MC Scow class (Scowabunga) and Melges 14

(Spring Championship) class. There will be separate starts for each class.

2.2 To be considered an entry in the event, a boat shall complete all registration requirements

and pay all fees.


3.0 REGISTRATION AND FEES

Registration is $75 for boats who preregister at the link below by May 15. Registrations

after May 15 or at the event are $80. Registration includes all meals and liquid

refreshments for the skipper. Additional meal packages available for $25 – please add

on the registration website.

All boats shall check-in at the clubhouse Friday, May 20 1800-2000 or Saturday May 21

0900-1030.


4.0 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

4.1 Sailing Instructions will be provided at check-in.


5.0 RACING AREA

5.1 The racing area will be on Lake Chickamauga, in the vicinity of Privateer Yacht Club.


6.0 MEASUREMENT

6.1 Boats shall meet the measurement standards as prescribed by their respective class

association.


7.0 COURSES

7.1 Courses will be as established by the Race Committee. If wind direction allows, courses

shall include both triangle and windward/leeward.


8.0 SAFETY BOATS

8.1 At least one safety boat will be provided, more may be added with higher registration.


9.0 SCORING

9.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a regatta.

9.2 Races will be scored using the low point system.


10.0 PRIZES

10.1 MC Scow

1st, 2nd, and 3rd places

Top Master (beyond top 3)

Top Grand Master (beyond top 3)

Top Mega Master (beyond top 3)

10.2 Melges 14

1st, 2nd, and 3rd places


11.0 RISK STATEMENT

11.1 Competitors participate in this regatta entirely at their own risk. See the Rules of Racing

Rule no. 4, Decision to Race. Competitors acknowledge that sailing involves potential

risks. As a condition of their participation in this regatta, competitors release all claims

they may have against Privateer Yacht Club, the regatta host and property owner, their

officers, directors, members, committees and employees for damage to property,

personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the

regatta. Competitors shall be responsible for damage or injury caused by their breach of

The Racing Rules of Sailing or applicable governmental rules for the avoidance of

collision. Competitors voluntarily assume the risks associated with communicable

diseases including but not limited to COVID-19.


12.0 SCHEDULE

Friday, May 20

1800 – Early registration – Liquid refreshments provided


Saturday, May 21

0900-1030 – Registration

1030 – Skippers Meeting

1100 – Lunch

1200 – Warning signal for first race, additional races to follow

1730 – Liquid refreshments provided

1830 – Steak Cookout Dinner


Sunday, May 22

0800 – Breakfast

0930 – Warning signal for first race of the day, races to follow

*No races will be started after 1330

1330 – Trophy Presentation after racing concludes


13.0 AMENDMENTS

13.1 Amendments to the Notice of Race will be posted on the PYC website.


14.0 LODGING

14.1 Idyllic camping on the Beautiful Tennessee River 100 feet from the clubhouse, no charge.

Showers are available in the club. RV spots are available but spots with power are limited

so reserve early. Please request camping spots via the registration website.

14.2 Hotels near intersection of Highway 153 and Hamill Road – less than 2 miles from

clubhouse:
