Rules and
Eligibility
The regatta will be governed by the current rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

 

This event is open to MC Scows whose skippers have completed registration. Trophy age categories must be met before the first scheduled race.

 

The event is the second of three in the MC Triple Crown series, the other events in the series are the Southeast Regional Championship Regatta which was held in November 2018 and the MCSA Midwinter Championship to be held in March 14-16, 2019. Competing in all three events is required to be eligible for the Triple Crown award.

All amounts include Florida sales and use tax at current rate


Boat registration is: (see button above to register) 
$114 for MCSA members
$119 for non MCSA members.
Register before  Tuesday, January 15, 2019. to claim a $5 discount. 

 

Boat registration includes (for skipper) - breakfast AND LUNCH each day, Friday appetizers, Saturday evening dinner, and regatta “T” shirt and Complimentary  Wi-Fi      


Additional items, breakfasts $3.00, lunches $8, dinners $15, and T shirts $15 if ordered by January 21 – after that date additional meals and T Shirts cannot be guaranteed.

Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.  Changes to SI’s will be posted on the official notice board outside the clubhouse.

 

MCSA New Member Signup / Information 

Scoring

The Low Point System of RRS Appendix A will be used. Seven (7) races are scheduled but more may be sailed at the discretion of the PRO. A minimum of one race must be completed to constitute a regatta.If less than 6 races are completed a boats score will be the total of all its race scores. This changes RRS A2

 

Scoring for the MC Triple Crown series will be as follows:

  • First place finisher in the SER and in the Train Wreck Regattas will be awarded 60 points, second place finisher 59 points, third 58 points, etc.
  • First place finisher in the Mid-Winters Regatta will be awarded 120 points, second place finisher 119 points, third place 118 points, etc.
  • Total score for the series will be the sum of scores in all three regattas.
  • The Sailor with the highest number of points will be awarded the “Triple Crown”

Safety Suggestion

LESC encourages the use of masthead floats when conditions warrant their use.

VHF Radio

VHF radio will be the primary means by which the RC will communicate with the contestants about activity on the race course; e.g. delays, recalls, weather related issues. Recalled boats may be advised by radio and hailer.

Lodging
RVs/Camping

Camping is allowed on the grounds of the Sailing Club (on the north side of building)

Please declare intent to camp in the comment section of your registration form.

 

Up to eight RVs less than 30 ft long can be accommodated by prior arrangement.  Please indicate intent to RV in the comments section of your registration form - first come first served!

 

Camping and RVs are permitted on the Club’s grounds from Jan 26 to Feb 5, 2019

Storage
LESC has a Boat Storage Program for sailors who want to keep their boats here between the regattas. This keeps your MC here at LESC while you fly down for Zenda U/ MCSA MidWinters Championship Regatta. Let us know in the comment section of your registration form if you are interested.
