The races will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. Sailing Instructions provided at Registration

Entries and
Eligibility

This event is open to MC scows and M14 dinghies whose skippers have completed registration and paid the required fees by close of registration. Separate starts for each class. MC Trophy age requirements must be met before the first scheduled race. 

Registration

Boat registration is $70 for those who preregister ($75 after May 14). Fee includes: meals and liquid refreshment for skipper.

Members of BOTH MCSA and US Sailing get $5 off during online registration only. Please log in to MCSA as a member to receive the discount.

  • Idyllic camping on the Beautiful Tennessee River 100 feet from the clubhouse - Showers in the club. Plenty of RV spots on the grounds and of course there is no charge.

General

Racing Takes Place Directly in front of the clubhouse. No long sail to the starting line. Our harbor is sheltered allowing safe in water boat storage overnight. We have both hoist and launch ramps. Come join us for great sailing and a true laid back Southern Experience.

The Aquarium, Museum Arts District, IMAX Theater, Micro Brewery’s, Spectacular River Front Park and Walk, Children’s Discovery Museum, Chattanooga Carousel with animals carved at the Cities carving school ($.50 per ride), Challenger Space Museum with full size working mock up of the Space Shuttle and NASA control room (free admittance), pedestrian bridge over the Tennessee River joining the North and South Downtown Tourist areas, Chattanooga Lookouts minor league baseball team with a stadium in the heart of the downtown area, Some of the best hiking in the United States and the fact that every thing is with in easy walking distance will make you want to add an extra day to your trip.

The Organizing Authority for this regatta is the Privateer Sailing Education Foundation (PSEF).


Competitors participate in this regatta entirely at their own risk. See the Rules of Racing Rule no. 4, Decision to Race. Competitors acknowledge that sailing involves potential risks. As a condition of their participation in this regatta, competitors release all claims they may have against Privateer Sailing Education Foundation, the regatta host and Privateer Yacht Club, the property owner, their officers, directors, members, committees and employees for damage to property, personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta. Competitors shall be responsible for damage or injury caused by their breach of The Racing Rules of Sailing or applicable governmental rules for the avoidance of collision.”

Directions to the Privateer Yacht Club

 

From I-75 North Or South: Exit I-75 on to Highway 153 North. Follow 153 North approximately 6.8 miles crossing the Chickamauga Dam. Immediately even before exiting the dam take the Lake Resort Drive exit. Go fully around the traffic circle (Round About) and turn onto Lake Resort Drive. Travel 1.8 miles to the intersection with Gann Store Road. There will be a triangle of grass on your right. Turn right. Follow Gann Store past Gold Point Marina, 1.4 miles until the road makes a 90-degree right and then an immediate 90-degree left at the top of a slight hill. Go straight ahead onto Privateer Road. At the bottom of the road is the entrance gate to the Club. There will be PYC signs posted beginning at the dam to help you along your way. From the hotels come up Hamill Road continuing up the switch back. At the top of the hill go straight to the first right hand turn (Gann Store). (PYC sign will be at intersection) turn right and continue 4 blocks to Privateer Road on left.
