Spring Fever 2000 Regatta Results
Twenty-two sailors showed up for the First Annual Spring Fever MC Regatta held on Okauchee Lake. Saturday was a beautiful sunny day with light variable winds that never seemed to fill in. We attempted to start a race in the morning but we all drifted to the starting line and it just wasn't meant to be. We tried again later in the afternoon and actually got thru the starting sequence but had a general recall. Everyone was a little anxious I guess. By the time everyone got turned around, the wind had diminished and we had to call it a day. Sunday's wind was more cooperative and we started early. The top three finishers in Race 1 were 1-Zach Clayton, 2-Dan Fink, and 3-Rick Wilfert. Excitement continued as Carl Pinahs tipped over at the finish line on the RC boat and Scott Stetter almost T-boned the RC boat. We sailed Race 2 back to back as the winds started to build. The top three finishers in Race 2 were 1-Bill Best, 2-Zach Clayton, and 3-Tim Fredman. We can only imagine how well Bill Best would have done had he started the first race on time. Congratulations to Zach Clayton for winning the regatta. Speaking for myself, it sure feels good to be sailing again. It's always a pleasure seeing all of you and meeting new people. Thanks to all those who competed and all the volunteers who donated their time and effort to make this regatta so successful. Hope to see you all here next year.
