NOTICE OF RACE

1. RULES
1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing
for 2021-2024 and as modified by the sailing instructions.
1.2. Appendix V will be in effect.
1.3. The USS prescriptions rules 63.2 is deleted
1.4. The event is a stop on the SAYRA Junior Grand Prix Championship Series

1.5. [NP] All boats shall have sail numbers.
1.6. The notation [NP] in a rule means that a boat may not protest another boat for
breaking that rule. This changes RRS 60.1(a). The notation [DP] means that the
penalty may be less than disqualification.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1. The regatta is open to all one-design and PHRF boats with a minimum of four
boats per class to be scored.
2.2. The following Junior classes will be determined by age as of December 31, 2023:
2.2.1. ILCA 7-Full (under 21), ILCA 6- Radial (under 19), ILCA 4- 4.7 (under 18)
2.2.2. Sunfish (under 19)
2.2.3. Club/College 420 (skipper and crew under 19)
2.2.4. Open Skiff U13 (under 13), Open Skiff 13+ (13-20)
2.3. The following Junior classes will be determined by skipper’s age on the first day
of the regatta.
2.3.1. Optimist RWB- White (10 and under), Blue (11-12), Red (13-15 and
through 12/31 of the calendar year they turn 15)
2.3.2. Optimist Green (novice, under 15 and through 12/31 of the calendar year
they turn 15)

2.4. Eligible boats may enter by completing registration for the regatta ONLINE prior
to the cutoff date/time of Friday, October 6th, 7:00 pm at:

2.5. THERE WILL BE NO ONSITE REGISTRATION.

3. FEES
3.1. Registration is $75 for Adults, $50 for Juniors 18 and under (October 1st or later,
there will be a $10 late registration fee)
3.2. Deduct $5 if you are a current member of US Sailing

3.3. Registration includes a regatta t-shirt for the skipper if registered and paid before
September 15th.

4. MEALS
4.1. Friday evening cookout and Saturday lunch will be available to purchase online,
pre-order only.
4.2. Saturday night dinner options (lobster rolls, BBQ, and chicken tenders) will be
available to purchase online, pre-order only.
4.3. Complimentary breakfast will be available Saturday and Sunday morning for all
guests.
4.4. All meals are pre-order only and must be ordered and paid for before Monday,
October 2, 2023.
4.5. A food truck will be available to purchase Sunday lunches.
5. SCHEDULE (See separate event schedule)
5.1. Friday, October 6th

12:00 pm Club Grounds open for visitors
4:00-7:00 pm Check-in at the clubhouse

5.2. Saturday, October 7th

8:00-10:00 am Check-in at the clubhouse
10:30 am Competitors Meeting outside clubhouse
12:00 pm Warning Signal

5.3. Sunday, October 8th

10:00 am Warning Signal *No racing will begin after 1 pm
2:00 pm Award Presentation

6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
6.1. Sailing Instructions will be available online prior to October 6, 2023 and will be
posted at the clubhouse.

7. COURSES
7.1. See Sailing Instructions for course assignments and further details.
8. PENALTY SYSTEM
8.1. Rules VI and V2 of Appendix V will be explained in the Sailing Instructions.
9. SCORING
9.1. An unlimited number of races are scheduled on all courses. One complete race
will constitute a regatta.
9.2. The regatta will be scored with the low point system as described in RRS,
Augusta Sailing Club Halloween Regatta NOR 2023

Appendix A as amended to read that if 6 or more races are scored, each boat will
exclude her worst score.

10. SUPPORT BOATS
10.1. Support boats will be on the water to provide safety and will also carry water
available to competitors.

11. AWARDS
11.1. The number of awards given will be based on the number of registrants.
12. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
12.1. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4,
Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for
material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or
prior to, during, or after the regatta.

13. COACH AND SPECTATOR BOATS
13.1. [DP] Coach boats and spectator boats shall be restricted to certain areas by PRO
of the respective courses.
13.2. [DP] All support vessels shall be equipped with a functioning engine safety cutoff
switch (kill switch) which shall remain attached to the operator at all times while
the engine is running.
13.3. All coach boats and support vessels shall be equipped with a functioning VHF
radio and shall check in with and remain in communication with the respective
course PRO while on the water.

14. VHF RADIOS
14.1. [DP] VHF radios are required for all RC boats, coach boats, spectator boats and
other visitors on the water. Please monitor the signal boat channel on the circle
you are following.
14.2. [DP] Except in an emergency a boat shall neither make radio transmission while
racing nor receive radio communication not available to all boats. No other
electronic devices are allowed.
14.3. As a courtesy, the Race Committee may announce relevant information or to call
OCS’s. Failure to hear transmissions from the Race Committee, the timing or the
sequence of calling of OCS’s on VHF shall not be a cause for redress.
14.4. VHF channels to be used will be detailed in the Sailing Instructions.
15. FURTHER INFORMATION
15.1 Please refrain from bringing pets (except certified service dogs). Pets are not
permitted on the beach or around club buildings. Your cooperation is appreciated.
