Rules The races will be governed by the rules defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). No advertising may be displayed pursuant to ISAF Regulation 20.6.4. The Sailing Instructions will take precedence in case of conflict. This changes RRS 63.7.
Entries and
Eligibility
This regatta is open to all sailors of MC scows. This is an MCSA sanctioned event. Each skipper must be a current member of MCSA and meet trophy age requirements before the first scheduled race. Non-MCSA members will be scored DNC for all races. All yachts must comply with the MC class scantlings prior to the preparatory signal of the first scheduled race. A boat may sail with a different sail number from its hull number if it registers with that sail number, and must compete with that number for the entire event. (Pay your dues via credit card now)

Registration Boat registration is $210 for skippers who register on or before July 15, 2012, and is $225 for those skippers who register after July 15, 2012. US SAILING members will receive a $5 discount off their registration fee.

The Registration Fee for Youth is $100. There is no late fee for Youth.

Credit card transactions will be processed on July 15, 2012 for those participants who have registered by this date. For those who register after July 15, credit cards will be processed simultaneously with online registration. For those paying by check, please make payable to "WLYC" and mail them to White Lake Yacht Club, PO Box 1, Whitehall, Michigan 49461. Please remember to put "MC Nationals Registration" in the check memo.

Registration fee entitles each registrant to:

  • Three breakfasts
  • Three lunches
  • Free beer after racing each day
  • Wednesday welcome "lean-in"
  • Thursday and Friday dinner parties
  • Regatta T-shirt
  • Additional meals and merchandise may be purchased online or at check-in.

On site registration will take place in the WLYC club house.
Radio Use Bring your VHF radio. It will be the primary way to communicate with the contestants about activity on the racecourse; e.g., delays, recalls, weather related issues.
Scoring The Low Point System, RRS A4, will apply, except that each boat's total score will be the sum of her scores for all races; in the event that seven (7) races are completed, her worst score will be excluded. This changes RRS A2.
Trophies Three (3) completed races shall constitute a regatta for awarding Perpetual Trophies and declaring the National Champion. Keeper trophies will be awarded if at least one (1) race has been completed.

  • Top 2 Mega Masters (70 - 79 years of age)

  • Top Single-Handed Sailor
Weighing
Measuring
All boats will be inspected to ensure compliance with the class weight requirement. Sails will be selected at random for measurement. Weighing and measuring will take place on club grounds at a location to be announced.
Launching and
Trailer Parking
The majority of launching will take place at the Lakeside Inn ramp, 1/8 mile West of WLYC. Limited launching will be available at WLYC. Trailers will be parked in the Rillema field, which is 1/8 mile south of Lakeside launch.
Haul-Out The launch crew will tag 25-30 trailers/boats upon arrival that will specifically haul out Saturday at the WLYC ramp. This is to ease the bottleneck at the Lakeside ramp. The remaining boats will haul out at Lakeside. If you are a local or do not plan to leave immediately after the regatta, we ask that you moor or beach your boat to let others haul out first. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and patience.
Boat Storage All boats will be moored or beached in the vicinity of WLYC. Each participant is responsible for bringing his/her own mooring and 30 feet of anchor rope. Cinder block anchors will be provided on site. Water taxis will be available to transport to and from their boats. Boats will be beached to the immediate West of the WLYC. There will be no dry sailing.

Alcohol There shall be no outside alcohol brought onto, or consumed on WLYC grounds. Beer and wine is available for purchase in the WLYC Anchor Room throughout the day and bars will be set up to serve the evening parties. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Crew Junior crew members will be available along with boats to transport them to the race course when wind conditions warrant.
